Commercial Kegerator Buying Guide
A commercial kegerator — also sold as a direct draw beer dispenser or keg cooler — holds the kegs inside the cabinet the faucets are mounted on, so the beer travels a few feet of line from keg to glass. It holds 33–41°F with the doors opening all night in a warm room, locks because there is inventory inside, and is a different machine from the single-faucet unit sold for a home bar.
Single tower
One service point on the bar top. Two faucets on one tower means two beers but still one person pouring at a time, one drip tray to empty, and more of the bar top left clear. Right where one bartender handles beer and the other works the well.
Dual tower
Two separate towers along the same cabinet, so two people can pour at once and the queue splits in two. On a busy bar this is the whole argument, and it usually costs the same as the single-tower version of the same cabinet. Our PLM-BCBD4-2 goes further with two towers of two faucets — four beers, two pour points.
How to choose a commercial kegerator
- Count the people behind the bar, not the taps. One bartender on beer → single tower. Two bartenders who both pour → dual tower, every time. Four faucets on one tower still serves one person at a time.
- Size in the keg you actually buy. A half barrel is 16 1/8" across and a sixtel is 9 1/4", so the same cabinet holds meaningfully more sixtels. A rotating craft list sizes in sixtels; a house-lager bar sizes in half barrels.
- Budget for CO2 separately. Cylinder, regulator and somewhere safe to stand the cylinder are not in the box.
- Check your couplers. Ours ship with the "D" system coupler, which most American domestic brands use. Imports and many craft brands need S, A, G, M or U.
- Plan the bar cut-out. These stand 51" overall with the tower, so the cabinet does not tuck under a bar top — the tower comes up through or beside the surface.

Keg sizes — diameter is what limits you
US keg sizes differ far more in diameter than in height, and diameter is what decides how many stand side by side on the cabinet floor.

Pint counts are straight arithmetic from the volume, before foam and line loss — use them to work out how often you change kegs, not to price the pour. Our kegerators are built on the same shallow cabinet as our back bar coolers, with a tower on top — so the two sit flush next to each other along the back run with no step and no gap, and your depth budget is one number for both.

The 24 1/8" single-tap unit is rear-mounted; the rest are left-side mounted, so leave that side reachable for service. Every unit carries 1 year labour, 2 years parts and 5 years on the compressor part.
Commercial kegerator FAQ
What is the difference between a commercial kegerator and a home one?
A commercial kegerator holds 33 to 41F with the doors opening all night in a warm, crowded room, is NSF listed, locks because there is inventory inside, and is built to be pulled out and cleaned under. A home unit is built for a garage or basement bar with the door opened a few times an evening. Behind a working bar a home unit stops holding temperature on a busy Saturday, and that shows up in the glass as foam long before it shows up as a service call.
Should I get one tower with two faucets or two separate towers?

How many pints are in a keg?
A half barrel is 15.5 gallons, or 1,984 ounces — 124 sixteen-ounce pints, or 165 twelve-ounce pours. A quarter barrel or slim quarter is 992 ounces, so 62 pints. A sixtel is 661 ounces, about 41 pints. Real yield is lower: foam after a keg change, beer left in the line, and anything poured off while balancing pressure all come out of that number.
Does a kegerator come with CO2 and couplers?

Direct draw or a long-draw system?
Direct draw means the kegs sit in the cabinet the faucets are mounted on, with a few feet of line — simpler, cheaper, and far easier to keep balanced and clean. A long-draw system puts kegs in a walk-in and runs glycol-cooled trunk lines to towers elsewhere in the building; it makes sense for many taps, for no floor space at the bar, or where keg changes must happen away from guests, and it costs several times more to install and maintain. If direct draw fits your tap count, it is the right answer.
