Merchandiser freezers

Same glass door cabinets holding −10°F to 10°F for ice cream, frozen meals and ice. Polarman PLM-HGD12F, 16F, 23F, 48F and the three-door HGD72FDV, plus True and Everest. Shop merchandiser freezers →

Open-air merchandisers

How to choose a glass door merchandiser

  • Food or drinks. Anything perishable needs 41°F or below — the HGD refrigerators or a freezer. A beverage cooler that tops out at 50°F is fine for soda and fails inspection with a sandwich in it. Temperature guide →
  • Swing or sliding doors. Swing doors seal better and are the default; sliding doors are for aisles too narrow for a door to open, and need weekly track cleaning.
  • Size by facings. Door count is how many product faces the customer sees; cubic feet is backup stock behind them. Count the facings you want to show, then pick one, two or three doors.
  • Power. Dedicated 115V circuit, 1.6–7.5 A running for refrigerators, 5–9 A for freezers. The 72 cu ft three-door freezer (PLM-HGD72FDV) is 230V single phase.
  • Placement. Out of direct sun, condenser grille clear, facing foot traffic, loaded front-to-back one product per facing. Full merchandiser buying guide →

Glass door merchandiser FAQ

What is a merchandiser refrigerator?

A commercial refrigerator with glass doors, interior lighting and adjustable shelving, built so customers can see and pick product themselves. It is a display case as much as a refrigerator, and is sized in doors as well as cubic feet.

Can a glass door beverage cooler hold food?

Only if it holds 41°F or below. Beverage coolers such as the Polarman SGD series run 32–50°F and are meant for drinks; for dairy, deli or grab-and-go meals use a merchandiser refrigerator (33–41°F) such as the HGD series.

Swing door or sliding door merchandiser?

Swing doors seal better and are the default. Choose sliding doors only when the aisle in front is too narrow for a door to swing, and plan on cleaning the track weekly.

How much electricity does a glass door merchandiser use?

Polarman single-door refrigerators draw 1.6–3 A at 115V; two-door 3.3–4.5 A; the three-door 72 cu ft refrigerator 7.5 A. Freezers draw 5–9 A. Keep the case out of direct sun and the condenser grille clear, or the compressor runs continuously.

How tall is a glass door merchandiser?

Polarman models run from 61 13/16" (PLM-HGD12R) to 83 7/10" (two- and three-door HGD units). For a case under counter height, look at a countertop display case or back bar cooler instead.

Glass door or open-air merchandiser?

Open-air (air curtain) cases sell faster at checkout because there is no door to open, but cost more to run and lose temperature in warm rooms. Glass door cases hold temperature far better and suit anything that sits for more than a few hours.
